The Brazilian Priests’s Flying Ship

An engraving from the Gentleman’s Magazine, Vol. I, 1786.

The ship was covered with a net of “iron wire, in the form of a net, on which are fastened a good number of amber beads, which by secret operation, will help keep the ship aloft.”

The University of Otago’s website has a number of other interesting illustrations and excerpts from the Gentleman’s Magazine.
